自2016年開始,香港不少中小學參加了Map in Learning(MiL)計劃,運用免費的地理資訊系統(GlS)軟件從事專題研習,至今已有二百多間學校、超過1500師生曾參與相關活動。當中研究過的課題非常多元化,由熱島效應、休憩用地、貧富和人口特徵的關係,以至親身到新界進行田野考察土地用途變化等。5年來,這個軟件協助同學利用電子地圖連結多種空間數據,整理歸納後發掘出多種可能性。有時他們提出的解決方案也許有待完善,但在過程中學習如何應對難題,經驗肯定終身受用。令人欣喜的是,MiL這個原本今年完結的計劃會延續多5年,令更多年輕人受惠。
